The CCF NSW team has wrapped up an outstanding season of Regional Social events across the state, bringing members together through site tours, technical insights, safety updates, and valuable networking opportunities.
HumeLink East Site Tour & Dinner
On Thursday, 30 October 2025, CCF NSW members gathered for an exclusive HumeLink East site tour and dinner in Yass, gaining the chance to see one of NSW’s largest energy infrastructure projects firsthand.
The event began with a welcome from a CCF NSW update from CEO Kylie Yates, who set the scene by sharing Energy Transition data from the CCF NSW Civil Industry Forecast Report. Our event sponsors, Assignar and Aptella, delivered informative presentations, highlighting tools and technology to support civil contractors.
The Acciona and Transgrid team then provided an in-depth overview of HumeLink East, the eastern portion of the HumeLink project being delivered by Acciona and Genus JV. Spanning 227 km from Bannaby to Adjungbilly, main construction is progressing across three zones.
Members enjoyed a guided site tour, visiting key construction zones and the Yass worker accommodation facility, while the Acciona team explained the challenges of building the transmission line and erecting towers, giving members firsthand insight into the complexities of delivering HumeLink East.
The evening concluded with dinner at the Yass Soldiers Club, giving members the chance to network and discuss insights from the tour.

Wagga Wagga Regional Social Breakfast at WesTrac
The crowd and the clouds gathered for coffee and breakfast at WesTrac Wagga Wagga on Wednesday, 5 November 2025. After breakfast, guests moved into the boardroom for a SafeWork NSW presentation delivered by local representatives Rachael Docherty (Inspector) and Sam Becke (Team Coordinator). The SafeWork NSW presentation was informative and conclude with an interactive Q&A session.
SafeWork NSW outlined the Key Harms in Building and Construction regulatory priorities for 2025–26, including:
Falls from Heights
Working at heights remains the leading cause of fatalities in the NSW Building and Construction Industry. Most serious and fatal falls occur from heights of less than four metres. SafeWork inspectors take a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe practices, with employers risking on-the-spot fines of up to $8,750 or prosecution. Effective fall-prevention measures include scaffolding, roof rails and temporary edge protection.
Young Workers
In NSW, there are currently more than half a million young people, aged between 14 and 24 years, who have entered the workforce. On average, approximately 17 percent of NSW workers are defined as young (aged up to 25 years old). Young workers need extra support at work, training, supervision, information and equipment and access to resources to ensure they remain healthy and safe at work.
Managing Psychosocial Hazards and Risks
Employers are legally required to identify and control psychosocial hazards. In construction, common hazards include bullying and harassment, work pressure, exposure to traumatic events, violence, and hazardous physical environments.
Crystalline Silica
New safety requirements for work involving crystalline silica substances (CSS) commenced on 1 September 2024. Dust must be minimised as far as reasonably practicable. Safeguards apply to all materials containing at least 1% crystalline silica.
Injuries from Mobile Plant, Fixed Machinery and Vehicles
Incidents involving vehicles and mobile plant remain one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities in NSW. SafeWork NSW emphasised the need to apply the hierarchy of control measures to eliminate or minimise risks where moving plant is used on construction sites.

CCF NSW CEO update from Kylie Yates generated strong engagement, particularly covering the topic of Workers Compensation in NSW and meetings that CCF NSW has attended to advocate on behalf of members.

North Coast Regional Social at Eire Constructions
The purpose designed Eire Constructions Head Office in Sancrox sits on the doorstep of the bustling mid-North Coast hub of Port Macquarie, which is a rapidly growing regional city.
On Thursday, 13 November 2025, the Eire Constructions team rolled open the workshop doors and transformed the space into a welcoming venue for the event.
Blake Curtis, General Manager – Business Development at Eire Constructions, delivered the host presentation, outlining the company’s history, mission and purpose, key milestones, notable projects, capabilities, and people-and-culture initiatives. One of the standout projects highlighted was the Mardi Transfer Pipeline Extension, for which the Eire Constructions team is an NSW finalist at the upcoming CCF National Earth Awards on 28 November 2025 (in the $5–$10 million category).
