The 2025 Women in Civil Community Celebration brought together a packed room of civil professionals – women and men – at Sergeant’s Mess in Sydney to celebrate progress, share stories, and welcome the latest cohort into CCF NSW’s flagship mentoring program.
Launched by CCF NSW and driven by our members, Women in Civil is now in its eight year, with more than 140 participants having taken part in mentoring since the program began. This year, 32 mentors and mentees joined the class of 2025, representing plant operators, engineers, business owners, and rising leaders across the sector.
Why does it matter? Because we know that diversity strengthens decision-making, problem-solving and workforce sustainability. Capability is essential in civil construction, but without real opportunity, it’s not enough. This program is helping women see a long-term future in the civil industry and find practical guidance and support from others who’ve been there, both men and women.
The day also reaffirmed our shared commitment to the 50 by 50 Vision which is an industry-led goal to achieve 50% female participation in civil by 2050. There are no mandates here. This is about what our members believe, which is that a stronger, more inclusive industry is better for business, better for people, and better for the future of infrastructure in NSW.
A special thanks as well to Lizzie Williamson, who energised the room with her Two Minute Moves, which was a light-hearted but timely reminder to take care of our wellbeing in this fast-paced industry.
