After 30 years and three decades of success, Civil Sydney hits a new milestone as a company and made sure their celebration was one to remember!
In March 2025, they kicked things off with a bang, lighting up Sydney Harbour with fireworks and hosting a glittering boat party for family, friends, colleagues and industry peers. From their humble beginnings in 1995, when founder Simon Montford, a proud Stroud local and eldest of eight, launched the business with a second-hand excavator.
Over three decades, the company has marked milestone after milestone: their first new machine in 1998, a move to Redhead in 2000, specialising in piling, and the acquisition of cutting-edge rigs like the Bauer RG16T and Australia’s first Hitachi ZX345 Zero Swing in 2024.
Through it all, Civil Sydney has remained grounded in family values, with Simon and his wife Steph building the business alongside raising their own family. Their nephew Jacob has now joined the team, bringing fresh energy to the next chapter. Known for his generosity and community spirit, Simon has not only built structures, but inspired those around him to make a difference. Dan Thomas, has also played an integral role in Civil Sydney’s continued growth for the past 14 years as the General Manager. Simon remarked, “we’ve all heard the term it takes a village to raise a child. I certainly feel that way about Civil Sydney”.
The CCF NSW team, Kylie Yates and Lee Carter, were thrilled to attend the celebration and toast the legacy of a company built on loyalty, leadership, and genuine care.
