NSW civil contractors are advised that CFMEU NSW delegates, organisers, and leaders will be conducting increased site visits in the coming weeks to check compliance with enterprise agreements and workplace safety standards.
The union has announced it will be targeting sham contracting, underpayment of workers, and other breaches as part of a broader industry compliance drive.
Employers can expect checks to focus on:
- Correct payment of wages, allowances, and entitlements
- Proper classification of workers and avoidance of sham contracting
- Compliance with RDO, overtime, and leave provisions
- Site safety and amenity requirements under agreements and legislation
CFMEU NSW has stated that prosecutions will follow where large-scale non-compliance is found, and has called on employers to ensure they are meeting their obligations under signed enterprise agreements.
