On Saturday, 8 November 2025, the Brefni community came together at the East Village Hotel in Balmain to celebrate the company’s 30-year anniversary.
The lively crowd included many familiar faces from current and past employees, partners and families, suppliers, clients, and friends of Brefni – all together to share stories, laughs, and a great night out.
Formalities began with CEO and Founder Tom Brady, who reflected on his early career, the beginnings of the company, and the journey that brought Brefni to this milestone. He also extended his gratitude to long-serving employees for their commitment and contribution to the business.
Yolanda Saiz, CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, followed with an overview of Vinnies’ work and a heartfelt acknowledgement of Tom’s long-standing support. She highlighted his participation in 14 Vinnies CEO Sleepouts and his work as an ambassador for the event. Over the years, Tom and fellow supporters have helped raise an extraordinary $700k for Vinnies, assisting people facing homelessness, poverty, and disadvantage where support is needed most.
Founded in 1995, Brefni delivers sustainable civil and rail infrastructure across Australia’s East Coast. Their expertise spans rail, roads and bridges, defence, water, utilities, renewable energy, and remediation. They also maintain a fleet of specialised plant and equipment for hire to support complex civil construction projects.
In 2024, Brefni received both the CCF NSW and National Earth Awards for their St James Station Maintenance Shaft – Keeping Sydney Flowing project in the $2M–$5M category. In 2025, they again won the same category for the Cliff Drive, Leura – Creek Central Culvert Replacement project and are hoping to repeat their national success in the coming weeks.
Brefni has been a valued member of CCF NSW for many years, and CEO Tom Brady was recently elected to the CCF NSW Board. His fellow Board members attended the celebration to recognise this significant industry achievement.
